This bottom-fermented American Lager presents a robust profile for the style, leaning into its 13-degree gravity with a fuller malt presence than typical commercial examples. Utilizing Sládek hops harvested directly from the brewery’s garden, the nose offers a fresh, spicy, and subtly floral bouquet. Magnum provides a clean, understated bitterness that allows the grainy-sweet malt core to remain front and center. It pours brilliantly clear with a crisp, refreshing finish, balancing the traditional neutrality of the style with the vibrant, herbal character of fresh local hops and a smooth, well-rounded body.
Appearance. Brilliant clarity with a pale gold to medium yellow hue. It is topped by a frothy white head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Clean and moderately low in intensity. Initial notes of sweet, grainy malt are complemented by a distinctively spicy and floral hop character from the Sládek variety. It features a very clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.
Taste. The palate features a soft, grainy-sweet malt foundation that feels richer than standard examples. Hop flavor is moderately low, showcasing herbal and spicy notes from the Sládek and Magnum hops. Bitterness is low, providing just enough balance to prevent cloying, while the finish is clean and crisp with a short, slightly sweet aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, which is notably fuller than typical for the style. High carbonation provides a refreshing carbonic bite. It is very smooth with no perceptible alcohol warmth or astringency.
