Mad Squirrel Brewery Fogoff
Fogoff is a vibrant Double IPA that utilizes London Fog yeast to anchor a bold sensory experience. A triumvirate of Galaxy, Citra, and Strata hops delivers an aromatic profile saturated with ripe peach, bright citrus, and lush tropical fruit. The yeast-driven stone fruit esters meld seamlessly with the intense hop oils, creating a saturated, hop-forward character. Despite its strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a focused, dry finish that allows the multifaceted fruit notes of the Galaxy and Strata to resonate long after each sip, embodying the pinnacle of modern hop intensity.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (6–9 SRM). Persistent, off-white, creamy head with significant lacing. Features a moderate haze consistent with the use of expressive yeast and heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma. Pronounced notes of passion fruit and peach (Galaxy), grapefruit and lime zest (Citra), and underlying hints of strawberry and dank resin (Strata). Background malt is neutral and grainy, providing a clean canvas for fruity stone fruit fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical and stone fruit flavors including peach, mango, and citrus peel. Malt flavor is low, providing a soft, bready support without residual sweetness. Bitterness is firm and high, yet smoothly integrated. The finish is dry to medium-dry and clean, with a lingering aftertaste of resinous hops and tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, soft texture. Moderate carbonation. Soft alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harshness or astringency.
