Elephant Juice is a vibrant and refreshing Gose that reimagines the historical style with a contemporary floral and citrus twist. The addition of hibiscus lends a playful pink hue and a tangy, cranberry-like edge, while fresh grapefruit zest amplifies the beer's natural acidity. A base of Pilsner and wheat malt provides a soft, doughy foundation that balances the lactic sourness. Traditional coriander adds a subtle citrus-spice layer, finishing with a characteristic hint of sea salt that leaves the palate mouthwateringly dry. At 3.9% ABV, this sessionable sour offers a bright, effervescent bloom of spring-like flavors.
Appearance. Hazy, soft pink to light rose color (4-6 SRM) with a moderate, fine-beaded white head. Good effervescence and fair retention.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with bright grapefruit zest and floral hibiscus notes resembling red berries. Clean lactic tartness is present alongside light doughy wheat malt and a hint of citrusy coriander.
Taste. Initial impression is a refreshing, medium-low sourness. Bready malt flavors support tart hibiscus and zesty grapefruit. Very low bitterness (approx. 5-10 IBU) with a subtle, integrated sea salt character that enhances the fruit. Finishes very dry and clean.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation. The combination of acidity and salinity provides a tingly, mouthwatering quality. Very refreshing with no alcohol warmth.
