This Imperial Stout is an opulent sensory experience, blending the intense roast of a classic stout with the sophisticated nuances of Rye Whiskey barrel aging. The 12% ABV base delivers deep layers of bittersweet chocolate and espresso, while the addition of almond and vanilla provides a luscious, marzipan-like sweetness. Bright notes of cherry cut through the decadence, complemented by the distinctive spicy grain character and oak tannins derived from the rye whiskey barrels. The result is a complex, velvety masterpiece where the warmth of the spirit melds seamlessly with dark fruit esters and a lingering, dessert-like finish, embodying the bold spirit of the Tiny Barrel Project.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs on the glass indicative of its high alcohol content and viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and black licorice. The rye whiskey barrel contributes prominent notes of spicy grain, oak, and vanilla. Strong secondary aromas of marzipan-like almond and tart cherry are balanced by dark fruit esters of plum and raisin.

Taste. An initial impression of decadent sweetness and heavy roast. Flavors of cocoa, coffee, and toasted bread provide a base for layers of creamy vanilla, nutty almond, and sweet cherry. The rye whiskey barrel adds a peppery spice and oak character that cuts through the richness. Bitterness is medium-high but feels moderate due to the residual sugar and adjuncts. The finish is long and warming with a lingering bittersweet chocolate aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creamy mouthfeel. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with very low astringency from the oak.
