This opulent Imperial Stout presents an intricate sensory profile shaped by its significant 13.5% ABV and focused barrel aging. The rum barrel influence is immediate, weaving dark molasses and exotic spice through a foundation of rich, roasted malts. Luxurious layers of marzipan-like almond and sweet, jammy cherry emerge, bolstered by the creamy, aromatic lift of double vanilla. The palate is dense and velvety, balancing bittersweet chocolate and espresso notes against the spirit-forward warmth of the rum. It is a decadent, complex stout where the almond, cherry, and vanilla harmonize with the barrel’s oak and sugar-cane depth for a lingering, dessert-like finish.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs and a viscous coating on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Rich, deep aromas of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and dark molasses. The rum barrel provides a spicy, spirituous character that complements the distinct marzipan almond notes, floral vanilla bean, and dark, dried cherry esters. No hop aroma is perceived.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and sweet with intense flavors of cocoa and toasted malt. The mid-palate introduces luscious cherry and nutty almond, supported by a heavy presence of creamy vanilla. Rum-derived caramel and oak spice provide complexity. Hop bitterness is moderate but mostly masked by the thick malt body and adjunct sweetness. The finish is long, sweet, and warming.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Low carbonation. A significant and smooth alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the luxury of the sip without being sharp or solventy.
