Smooth Hoperator Supreme is a modern, high-impact Double IPA that leverages a double dry-hopped (DDH) regimen alongside the unique fermentation character of Kveik yeast. The sensory profile is dominated by an intense burst of tropical fruit and bright citrus—specifically tangerine and mango—driven by both the aggressive hopping and the yeast’s ester production. Despite its 8.1% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable with a lean, grainy malt backbone and a dry finish. The Kveik fermentation ensures a clean but fruit-forward profile that integrates seamlessly with the resinous and floral hop notes, creating a powerful yet smooth West Coast-inspired experience with contemporary yeast flair.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7–9 SRM) with a slight, hazy sheen common in heavily dry-hopped versions. It supports a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of overripe tropical fruit, citrus peel, and a hint of resinous pine. The Kveik yeast contributes a distinctive orange-like ester profile that complements the hops. Malt is a supportive, neutral grainy whisper in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of hop-derived mango, pineapple, and citrus oil. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks any harsh or vegetal edges. A very low, clean malt character provides just enough structure. The finish is notably dry and crisp, with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost velvety texture despite the high bitterness. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A well-restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but never solventy or hot.
