This American Pale Ale delivers a vibrant, modern sensory profile driven by a heavy-handed Double Dry Hopping of the Yakima Chief Pink Boots Blend. The aromatic landscape is dominated by bright tropical notes of pineapple and mango, which find a fascinating counterpoint in the addition of Purple Basil. The basil contributes a unique, garden-fresh herbal complexity with subtle hints of pepper and clove. A lean, crackery malt base provides enough support for the 6.1% ABV without detracting from the botanical layers. This collaborative brew finishes crisp and clean, balancing punchy New World hop fruitiness with a lingering, sophisticated herbal spice.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (7 SRM) with a slight haze from the heavy dry-hopping and botanical additions. Topped with a moderately large, off-white, persistent head that leaves fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring tropical fruit, citrus, and berry notes from the Pink Boots Blend. The Purple Basil provides a distinctive secondary layer of fresh herbs, black pepper, and a touch of anise. Low grainy malt sweetness provides a neutral background.
Taste. Leading with a punchy hop-forward impression of tangerine, mango, and stone fruit. The Purple Basil emerges mid-palate with an earthy, spicy herbal character. Moderate to high hop bitterness is well-integrated with a clean, bready malt flavor. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering botanical and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, moderately high carbonation that enhances the refreshing herbal qualities. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, finishing without any harshness or astringency.
