Lucifer's Rocking Chair reinterprets the Berliner Weisse tradition through a bold, contemporary lens. This collaboration leads with a sharp, clean lactic sourness that anchors a complex profile of exotic fruit and subtle heat. Lychee puree provides a delicate, floral sweetness, while the zesty, aromatic combination of Lime puree and Yuzu puree brightens the mid-palate with piercing citrus notes. The experience is uniquely rounded by the earthy addition of Jalapeño, contributing a whisper of capsicum flavor and a gentle, prickling warmth that complements the elevated 6.2% ABV. It remains refreshing and highly effervescent, supported by a soft wheat foundation and a crisp, dry finish.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold in color; hazy appearance due to the heavy addition of fruit purees. Features a large, dense white head with poor retention and minimal lacing, typical of high-acidity styles.
Aroma. High intensity dominated by sharp lactic sourness. Prominent lychee aromas offer floral and tropical sweetness, intertwined with the sharp, zest-like fragrance of lime and yuzu. A faint, earthy green pepper note from jalapeño is present. Low bready wheat malt character; no hop aroma or funk.
Taste. Clean lactic sourness dominates the initial impression. Flavors of lychee provide a succulent sweetness balanced by the sharp, acidic bite of yuzu and lime. A distinct but restrained jalapeño flavor adds a savory, vegetal dimension without aggressive heat. Malt is a background note of raw bread dough. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering citrus tartness and no detectable hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, feeling slightly more substantial than a traditional version due to the higher gravity. High carbonation provides a lively, effervescent scrub. Subtle alcohol warmth is present, alongside a crisp, mouth-watering acidity.
