This collaboration between Mad Scientist and Living Häus delivers a quintessential West Coast American IPA, balancing aggressive hop character with a lean malt profile. An intricate hop bill featuring Citra and Amarillo drives bold notes of navel orange and tropical mango, while Centennial and Columbus add a classic floral and pungent earthy depth. Resinous layers of pine and cedar emerge from the inclusion of Chinook and Simcoe, providing a sharp, forest-floor complexity. The finish is decisively dry and bitter, supported by a clean, grainy malt backbone that allows the intense lupulin profile to dominate the palate without interference.
Appearance. Deep gold with orange highlights (7-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Initial bursts of grapefruit, tangerine, and passionfruit are followed by a strong resinous pine and dank herbal character. Low, clean, bready malt sweetness sits in the background. No diacetyl or significant esters.
Taste. Dominant hop flavors of lemon peel, pine needles, and resinous sap. Firm, assertive bitterness provides a crisp structure. The malt presents as light crackers or toasted bread, remaining secondary. Finishes very dry and clean with a long, lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Medium-high carbonation provides a prickly, refreshing sensation. Very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
