Mad Scientist Flannelsexual is a bold Double IPA that fuses the resinous depth of spruce tips with the vibrant punch of citrus zest. The Kveik yeast fermentation lends a unique, slightly rustic fruitiness that complements the intense double dry-hopped profile. Expect an aromatic explosion of fresh pine needles and orange peel, underpinned by a clean, neutral malt base that keeps the focus on the hops and botanicals. This beer strikes a balance between forest-like earthiness and bright, zesty acidity, finishing dry with a firm bitterness that invites another sip despite its substantial strength and complex fermentation character.

Appearance. Light orange-copper with a slight haze consistent with double dry-hopping. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves resilient lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with dominant notes of resinous pine and fresh spruce tips. Layers of bright citrus zest and tropical fruit are prominent, supported by light stone fruit esters from the Kveik yeast and a neutral, grainy malt background.

Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of grapefruit and pine needles lead into a firm, moderately high bitterness. The citrus zest provides a sharp, clean pop while the spruce adds a lingering woodsy depth. Malt flavor is low and supportive with a hint of toasted grain. Finishes medium-dry with a clean, bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, enhancing the zesty brightness. A well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being solventy.
