Mad Scientist

This Double IPA radiates an intense, hop-forward character, showcasing the unique interplay between Vista and Galaxy hop varieties. The sensory journey begins with an explosive aroma of stone fruit, ripe melon, and tropical passion fruit, supported by a lean, neutral malt base that permits the lupulin profile to take center stage. On the palate, expect a bold wave of peach, citrus zest, and apricot, balanced by a firm, resinous bitterness that leads to a crisp, dry finish. Despite its 7.9% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a smooth alcohol warmth and a velvety texture, embodying the modern profile of the style.

Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Large, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Slight haze is present, typical of a double dry-hopped beer, though generally clear.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring dominant notes of passion fruit, peach, and honeydew melon from the Vista and Galaxy hops. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean cracker-like background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tropical fruit and citrus pith. Hop flavor is complex, highlighting apricot and resin. Moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. Low, supportive grainy malt character. The finish is dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
