This Imperial Stout presents a decadent sensory journey, defined by its extreme viscosity and a profile reminiscent of a rich hazelnut-chocolate spread. The appearance is jet black and opaque, signaling deep malt complexity. On the nose, intense aromas of toasted hazelnut, rich cocoa, and sweet vanilla intertwine with the spicy, sugarcane notes of Antilles Rum barrels. The palate is exceptionally full-bodied, where creamy lactose sweetness meets dark roasted grains and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is long and warming, punctuated by lingering nuttiness and a refined rum character, showcasing the harmonious blend of dessert-like adjuncts and significant alcohol strength.
Appearance. Jet black (40+ SRM) and completely opaque. Pours with a thick, deep tan head with moderate to low retention, leaving viscous legs on the glass as it settles.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of toasted hazelnut, milk chocolate, and creamy vanilla. The Antilles Rum barrel contributes notes of molasses, spiced oak, and dark fruit esters like raisins. A subtle background of roasted coffee and dark malt supports the sweet adjunct profile.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet and dessert-like, dominated by hazelnut and chocolate fudge. Malt flavors of espresso and dark chocolate provide a necessary roasted counterpoint to the heavy lactose. Bitterness is low to moderate, largely masked by the residual sweetness. The finish is long and sweet, featuring lingering vanilla and a warming rum-soaked oak character.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, chewy, and viscous with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. Noticeable and smooth alcohol warmth is present, consistent with the high gravity, without being harsh or solventy.

So the time has finally come when we release a beer that is even thicker than the last one we said was thicker than the previous, again. BUT this time it really is. Tons of lactose, chocolate and NUTs. ELAborating a beer is always full of fun with nuts because the selection is huge and (almost) every one of them is delicious. For the beer, we had a chance to take a chance on a new barrel type and Antilles rum turned out quite good. The results can be circumscribed as a hazelnut-chocolate spread rounded up with vanilla and aged in a rum barrel, for, you know… Reasons. And science.
