Müller Bräu UrWeizen presents a traditional and refreshing interpretation of the classic Weissbier style, distinguished by the use of ancient Einkorn wheat from the Schenkenbergertal. This heritage grain lends a rustic, slightly nutty depth to the expected bready and doughy malt backbone. The fermentation profile is archetypal, led by prominent banana esters and balanced by a delicate clove spiciness. As a naturally cloudy, mild brew, it delivers a soft, creamy texture that transitions into a bright, spritzy finish. The noble hops remain in the background, providing just enough structure to support the interplay between the ancient grain and expressive yeast.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale gold (4 SRM) with a very thick, moussy, long-lasting white head that leaves consistent lacing. It remains naturally cloudy with a healthy suspension of yeast and wheat proteins.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring classic banana esters and spicy clove phenols. A distinct bready and doughy wheat character is present, with a subtle, rustic graininess from the Einkorn and a faint hint of herbal noble hops.
Taste. The palate leads with soft bready and grainy wheat flavors, complemented by well-balanced notes of banana and clove. Bitterness is very low (approx. 12 IBU), allowing the malt and yeast character to shine. The finish is relatively dry and clean, with a lingering hint of spicy phenols.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a fluffy, creamy fullness on the tongue. High carbonation provides an effervescent and spritzy sensation, with no detectable alcohol warmth.
