Lupe Reyes is a decadent Weizenbock that masterfully balances the robust maltiness of a dark German ale with the expressive fermentation of a wheat beer. It presents a deep, inviting warmth, leading with prominent aromas of ripe banana and spicy clove that define its classic profile. The palate is treated to a rich, bready malt sweetness reminiscent of toasted crusts and dark fruit, supported by a velvety, full-bodied texture. This collaboration delivers a delicate bitterness that allows the complex interplay of yeast-derived esters and bready grains to shine, finishing with a smooth, lingering sweetness and a soft alcoholic glow.
Appearance. Deep dark ruby-brown (approximately 20-25 SRM) with a slight haze from the high wheat content. It features a very thick, moussy, long-lasting tan head with excellent retention.
Aroma. High intensity malty richness with significant bready and toasted grain character. Prominent yeast-derived esters of ripe banana and spicy clove phenols dominate the nose, complemented by subtle dark fruit notes of plum and a clean, low alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial malt sweetness leads to flavors of toasted bread and rich grain. The yeast character is assertive, providing notes of banana and clove. It has a low bitterness that allows for a sweet palate impression, finishing moderately sweet and smooth with lingering dark fruit complexity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full-bodied with a soft, creamy, and fluffy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a pleasant lift, accompanied by a noticeable and gentle alcohol warmth.
