This modern 'West Coast' interpretation of a German Pils delivers a sharp, vibrant aromatic profile while maintaining traditional structural integrity. The use of Hallertauer Blanc provides an elegant backdrop of white grape and lemongrass, while Mandarina Bavaria injects bright citrus notes of orange zest and tangerine. This assertive hop forwardness rests on a lean, bready Pilsner malt base that offers a subtle toasted cracker quality. Brilliantly clear with a crisp, dry finish, it successfully marries the aggressive hop presence of the American West Coast with the clean fermentation and firm, lingering bitterness expected of a classic continental lager.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (2–4 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head that leaves delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of gooseberry, white wine, and mandarin orange. Low grainy-sweet malt character, reminiscent of doughy crackers and light honey. Extremely clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is a crisp wave of citrus and vinous hop flavor, immediately followed by a firm, assertive bitterness. Mid-palate reveals light Pilsner malt and toasted bread. The finish is very dry and minerally, with a lingering hop resin and clean bitterness. Highly attenuated and balanced heavily toward modern hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a brisk, high carbonation level that provides a refreshing, prickly sensation. Smooth and clean; no alcohol warmth is perceived. Lacks astringency, showing a slight flinty sharpness in the finish.
