This Hazy Double IPA presents an intense sensory experience defined by its complex hop profile. Citra leads the charge with high-intensity aromas of grapefruit and tropical mango, while Mosaic contributes deep layers of ripe blueberry and earthy pine. A sophisticated addition of Saaz provides an unexpected but elegant spicy and floral counterpoint to the tropical fruit. The 8.5% ABV is masterfully hidden behind a soft, grainy malt backbone that balances the hop saturation without adding cloying sweetness. This modern interpretation of the style remains incredibly drinkable, finishing with a smooth, lingering citrus bitterness and clean fermentation character.
Appearance. Pale orange to light amber (7-9 SRM). Opaque and hazy. Features a large, persistent, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma characterized by tropical fruit, citrus zest, and resinous pine. Distinct notes of blueberry and passion fruit from Citra and Mosaic are complemented by a subtle herbal spice from Saaz. Low, neutral grainy malt in the background with no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors. High hop bitterness is firm but smooth, lacking any harshness. Malt flavor is low, suggesting sweet crackers or floury grain. Finish is medium-dry with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste. Fermentation is very clean with no notable esters beyond hop-derived fruitiness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation creates a pillowy feel. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
