This English Porter pours a deep mahogany with a resilient tan head, offering a botanical Dutch twist on a classic style. Het Engelse woord Porter komt van ons woord voor poort. De haven arbeiders stonden volgens traditie bij de poorten van Amsterdam te wachten om de specerijen van het schip op de kade te sjouwen. Deze ‘Poorter’ eert de havenarbeiders die de botanicals in grote zakken van de scheepspoorten naar de Amsterdamse pakhuizen tilden. Een Poorter bier voorzag de hardwerkende mannen van de benodigde calorieën om de dag goed door te komen. Of de Poorter nu van de lage landen of juist van de eilanden komt, Lowlander brouwden in elk geval een Poorter met een stoer dokwerkers randje.
