A modern interpretation of the German Pils, this collaboration between Lowercase and Standard Brewing offers a unique softness by blending traditional German Pilsner malt with Spelt and Wheat. The result is a pillowy grain foundation that supports a sophisticated hop profile. Classic floral and spicy notes from Tettnanger are elevated by the contemporary herbal and citrus-peel character of Loral. The palate is crisp and refreshing, balancing a refined bitterness with a subtle, doughy malt sweetness. It delivers a clean fermentation profile and a dry, snapping finish, providing a sophisticated sensory decompression that honors tradition while embracing innovative grain textures.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (2–3 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity. Forward floral and spicy hop character with a light herbal quality. The malt is clean and doughy with a hint of toasted cracker and raw grain from the spelt and wheat. Very clean fermentation with no detectable esters.
Taste. Initial grainy-sweet malt quickly yields to a firm hop bitterness. Flavors of spicy herbs and wildflower honey dominate the mid-palate. The use of German Pilsner malt provides a crisp, bready backbone. High bitterness that is clean and not harsh, leading into a very dry, crisp finish with a lingering floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a slightly softer, creamier texture than typical for the style due to the wheat and spelt. High carbonation. Crisp and refreshing with no alcohol warmth.

A person is smart…it’s people that are stupid. We made a beer for a.i. to drink after a long day of doing the stupid shit people ask it to do. In a long overdue collaboration with our buds at Standard, we sympathize with artificial intelligence and offer this soft pilsner as a sacrifice to our soon-to-be Overlords. We created a soft pilsner base by folding in a combination of Spelt and Wheat into German Pilsner malt and lay atop that some familiar German Tettnanger and less familiar American Loral in order to maximize the daily a.i. decompression routine.
We felt it necessary to have Justin (the man who created both Standard and Sovereign BY HAND) create a musical playlist in order to highlight one more hidden talent that he has…a damn good sound engineer. We love all our playlists and collaborators in the past, but he’s taken it to the next level here and put the story of an algorithm and its creator to a playlist…more on that later. Until then, crack a beer and pour it on your phone, it’ll thank you.
