Lowercase Brewing 10,000 Hours

Pilsner 0 º
10,000 Hours is a refined tribute to the German Pils, emphasizing the technical precision required for the style. It presents an elegant balance of grainy, cracker-like Continental Pilsner malt and the assertive, floral-spicy presence of traditional German hops. Inspired by the Bitburger tradition, it delivers a sharp, clean profile with a characteristic flinty dryness and a bracing bitterness that lingers pleasantly. The experience is defined by its crispness and high attenuation, showcasing a brilliant clarity and a firm, herbaceous finish that invites the next sip. This lager embodies a minimalist philosophy, focusing on high-quality ingredients and a flawless fermentation.
Appearance. Brilliant straw gold (3 SRM) with exceptional clarity. Topped by a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity of spicy and floral German hops. Supported by a clean, light grainy-sweet malt character reminiscent of water crackers or freshly kilned grain. No esters or diacetyl; a purely clean lager fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial soft malt sweetness of toasted crackers and dough is quickly superseded by a firm, clean hop bitterness. Flavors of herbal and floral hops are prominent throughout. The finish is very dry and crisp, with a slight minerally or flinty character that accentuates the lingering, clean bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, snappy texture. High carbonation provides a refreshing, prickly sensation. No alcohol warmth is detected, ensuring high drinkability.

Brewed for Prost PDX Bitburger Challenge where we go up against some stupidly big names in a blind Pilsner competition. 10,000 hours refers to Malcolm Gladwell and his quote that basically says you can’t be good at anything until you spend 10,000 hours practicing it, which is roughly 4 hours per day for 10 years. We’ve been doing this for 10 years now and this beer represents all that we’ve learned in those 10 years
