This Double IPA challenges the Citra and Mosaic status quo by showcasing an aromatic trio of Slovenian hops: Styrian Wolf, Styrian Dragon, and Styrian Fox. The sensory profile is an intense exploration of blackcurrant, elderflower, and ripe passionfruit, underpinned by a distinctive floral elegance. While the 8% ABV provides a subtle, well-integrated warmth, the experience remains firmly focused on hop intensity. A lean, pale malt base allows the unique berry and tropical fruit notes of the Styrian varieties to shine without distraction. It delivers a firm, clean bitterness and a dry finish, proving that the hop landscape extends far beyond standard New World varieties.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (SRM 7-10). Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing and good clarity, though a slight dry-hop haze may be present.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pronounced notes of blackcurrant and strawberry, coupled with a floral, rose-like bouquet and lemon zest. A supportive, neutral, grainy maltiness sits in the background alongside a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of grapefruit, elderflower, and tropical berry. Bitterness is moderately high and firm but remains smooth without harshness. The malt character is low and unobtrusive, leading to a medium-dry finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its strength without being solventy.
