This Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory journey, merging traditional dark-roasted depths with a tropical, sun-drenched twist. Rich layers of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice form a robust base, while the infusion of toasted coconut introduces a creamy, exotic Piña Colada allure. The high alcohol content provides a comforting, sophisticated warmth that integrates seamlessly with the viscous, velvety texture. Despite the absence of lactose, the beer maintains a luscious sweetness, punctuated by subtle notes of dried figs and plums. It concludes with a bittersweet, lingering finish where the roasty char and tropical fruitiness dance in harmonious complexity.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, persistent deep tan head that leaves dense, oily lacing. Visible legs or tears reflect the high alcohol and significant viscosity.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant aromas of roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and heavy toasted coconut. Esters of dark fruit like plum and raisin are present, intertwined with a subtle pineapple-like fruitiness. Very low earthy hop character. A clean but prominent alcohol warmth is evident.
Taste. Initial impression is an intense wave of dark malt sweetness and toasted coconut. Rich flavors of cocoa, espresso, and charred grain provide a firm foundation. Mid-palette reveals dried fruit complexity—figs and prunes—alongside a hint of tropical fruit acidity. Bitterness is firm but balanced by the massive malt backbone. The finish is long, bittersweet, and warming with a lingering coconut aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creamy mouthfeel. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth glows in the throat without being harsh or solventy.
