Lo Vilot Verema is a vibrant Grape Ale that captures the essence of the Segrià terroir through an elegant fusion of spontaneous fermentation and Monastrell grapes. Pouring a striking reddish hue, it offers a sophisticated bouquet where vinous berry notes from the Monastrell varietal mingle with the rustic, earthy nuances of wild fermentation. The palate is defined by a bright, refreshing acidity and a lean malt profile that allows the fruit’s character to shine. This hybrid creation balances the complexity of a sparkling wine with the crispness of a craft ale, finishing exceedingly dry with a lingering hint of grape-skin tannin.
Appearance. SRM 10–14; striking reddish-ruby to burgundy color. The head is pink-tinted with medium-low retention, leaving light lacing. Clarity is generally good with no significant haze.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring prominent vinous notes of dark grapes and red berries. A delicate rustic character from spontaneous fermentation provides earthy and slightly spicy undertones. Malt aroma is low and crackery, while hop aroma is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is of tart red fruit and grape must. The Monastrell grapes contribute rustic berry flavors and a hint of leather. Malt character is supportive and neutral, similar to a pale base. Bitterness is very low, allowing a light, clean acidity to balance the fruit. Finishes exceptionally dry and crisp with a vinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that creates a sparkling, refreshing sensation. A light acidity contributes to a dry mouthfeel; no alcohol warmth is perceived at this strength.
