Liquid Light Brew Co

This cask-conditioned American Pale Ale delivers a lush sensory experience that belies its sessionable strength. A heavy addition of Amarillo at flameout, followed by a double dry-hopping of Amarillo and Motueka, creates an intense bouquet of mandarin, sweet orange, and tropical lime. The malt bed, consisting of Pale Ale malt and Munich malt, provides a foundational bready sweetness and light toast. The inclusion of oats imparts a distinctive thickness and silky texture rarely seen in the style. Expect a juicy, fruit-forward palate dominated by citrus oils that transition into a clean, moderately bitter finish, perfectly balancing modern hop intensity with traditional cask smoothness.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber (approx. 7 SRM). Being a cask-poured ale brewed with oats, it presents with a soft, natural haze and a dense, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing and retention.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of ripe orange, tangerine, and a touch of lime zest from the Motueka. Supporting the hops is a moderate grainy malt character with hints of toasted bread and biscuit from the Munich malt. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. The initial impression is a bright wave of citrus, specifically sweet orange and mandarin orange. The malt profile is supportive and slightly sweet, tasting of fresh bread and light cereal. Hop bitterness is moderate, providing enough structure to balance the juicy fruit character without becoming harsh. The finish is clean and medium-dry with lingering citrus peel notes.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, significantly enhanced by the addition of oats which provide a creamy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, consistent with its cask-conditioned nature, resulting in a smooth, soft mouthfeel without any astringency.
