Lion Brewery Co New England Session IPA presents a vibrant sensory profile defined by its lush, tropical hop character. Dry-hopped with Mosaic and Amarillo, the beer delivers an intense bouquet of fresh citrus, ripe mango, and grapefruit. The grist, featuring rolled oats, flaked wheat, and malted barley, provides a soft, pillowy foundation that supports the juicy fruit expressions. While sitting at a refreshing session strength, it maintains the characteristic opacity and 'shine' of a traditional Hazy IPA. The finish is remarkably soft and fruit-forward, balancing a moderate bitterness with a clean, grain-derived malt backbone that allows the hop-derived stone fruit notes to linger.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM) with a significant, opaque haze that gives the liquid a luminous shine. It is topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical notes of ripe mango and stone fruit, alongside sharp citrus grapefruit and orange peel. A supportive, low bready and grainy malt character from the oats and wheat is present in the background, with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. The palate is immediately met with high-intensity tropical fruit flavors of mango and citrusy grapefruit. The malt profile is low to medium, offering a soft, grainy, and lightly bready character. Bitterness is low to medium-low, well-integrated and never harsh. The finish is off-dry to medium and exceptionally smooth, featuring lingering tropical fruit notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a noticeably soft, pillowy texture from the use of oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. It is smooth on the palate with no astringency and very low alcohol warmth, consistent with its sessionable strength.
