This Imperial Stout presents a masterful integration of time and wood, having rested for eighteen months in first-fill bourbon barrels. The result is a profound sensory experience defined by a core of bittersweet dark chocolate and heavy-roast espresso. The extended maturation introduces sophisticated layers of charred oak, Madagascar vanilla, and a hint of toasted coconut that intertwine with dark fruit notes of dried figs and raisins. Despite its significant strength, the palate remains harmonious, where the intense malt bitterness is smoothed by the sweetness of the barrel, concluding with a long, warming, and slightly vinous finish.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It produces a dense, deep tan head with moderate retention and noticeable legs on the glass reflecting its high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity aroma featuring rich dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and black licorice. The bourbon barrel contributes strong notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, complemented by moderate dark fruit esters resembling prunes and raisins.

Taste. Initial impression is of intense bittersweet cocoa and charred grain. Mid-palate reveals complex bourbon-soaked oak, vanilla, and sweet tobacco. Hop bitterness is firm, providing a necessary counterpoint to the rich malt and barrel sugars. The finish is lingering and decadent, with a clean alcohol presence and a touch of roasted dryness.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, chewy, and velvety with a luscious, coating texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is prominent but well-integrated, lacking any harsh solvent notes.
