Lieber Waldi

This Hazy IPA celebrates New Zealand terroir with a vibrant, tropical profile driven by Moutere and Nectaron hops. A heavy addition of Wheat and Oat malts creates an opaque, golden-straw pour with a soft, pillowy texture. The nose is an intense explosion of passionfruit, ripe pineapple, and stone fruit, underscored by a faint bready sweetness from the Barley and Caramel malts. On the palate, juicy layers of peach and citrus dominate, supported by a restrained bitterness that allows the lush fruit character to shine. The finish is smooth and off-dry, leaving a lingering impression of tropical nectar and a subtle, warming glow from its elevated alcohol content.

Appearance. Color is a deep straw to light gold (5 SRM) with a significant, opaque haze. It features a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring punchy notes of passionfruit, pineapple, and ripe peach. A subtle citrus zest and a hint of resinous spice from the Moutere hops are present. The malt provides a clean, bready, and lightly grainy background without any toasted notes.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit nectar including mango and grapefruit. The Nectaron hops contribute a distinct stone fruit character. Malt flavors are low to moderate, presenting as fresh bread and sweet grain. Bitterness is moderate and smooth, never harsh, balancing the off-dry finish. Aftertaste is clean with lingering fruity esters.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, rounded texture attributed to the oat and wheat grist. Carbonation is moderate. There is a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and a notable lack of hop astringency or harshness.
