LETRA Brewery TIME LAPSE
This Double IPA presents a vivid sensory journey, defined by an aggressive dry-hopping regime featuring Citra and Motueka. The nose is greeted by an immediate, fresh-crushed citrus profile, where distinct lime and lemon tones intermingle with a lush tropicality. A substantial grain bill, bolstered by the addition of oats and wheat, creates a smooth, hazy golden appearance and a velvety texture. On the palate, the 8% alcohol provides a rounding warmth that softens the firm hop bitterness, allowing the vibrant essential oils to shine. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering resonance of tropical fruit and clean citrus zest.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (6-9 SRM) with a persistent, creamy white head and excellent lacing. Shows a slight to moderate haze due to the high protein content from oats and wheat.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Motueka's lime zest and lemon-curd notes, alongside Citra's grapefruit and tropical mango. Very low, neutral grainy malt in the background with a clean, ester-free fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors mirroring the citrus and lime aroma. Moderately high bitterness that is firm but rounded, lacking harshness. Low, supportive bready malt character. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a long, lingering hop-derived bitterness and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, soft texture from the oats. Moderate carbonation. Contains a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth that is smooth rather than hot. No hop-derived astringency.
