LERVIG Kveik Culture: Alesmith

This American IPA, a collaboration between Lervig and AleSmith, marries San Diego tradition with Norwegian heritage. Locally grown Jæren Malt provides a clean, grainy foundation that supports a bold hop profile featuring the holy trinity of Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic. Fermented with the Stalljen kveik strain, the beer offers a unique but clean backdrop for intense aromas of orange rind, resinous pine, and ripe tropical fruit. A firm bitterness cuts through the medium-light body, leading to a crisp, dry finish characteristic of the West Coast style. The result is a vibrant, aromatic ale where citrus zest and evergreen notes linger long after the final sip.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold with brilliant clarity. Topped by a medium-sized, white, persistent head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus, orange rind, and resinous pine. Tropical fruit notes of mango and papaya are present, supported by a low, clean, grainy malt character from the Jæren Malt and very light, fruity kveik esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and pine resin. High hop flavor mirrors the aroma with notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit, and evergreen. Low grainy maltiness provides a supportive backbone without sweetness. High bitterness is firm and clean, leading into a dry, hoppy finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. Features a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
