LERVIG’s Bockwork Orange offers a sessionable yet rich interpretation of a Dunkles Bock. The sensory profile is defined by a deep foundation of Munich and Vienna malts, which provide an aromatic core of toasted bread crust and subtle Maillard products. Despite its moderate strength, it maintains a classic lager profile with clean fermentation and virtually no hop aroma. The palate is dominated by bready malt complexity and faint dark fruit esters, balanced by a restrained bitterness that ensures a smooth, non-cloying finish. This festive lager presents a brilliant, garnet-tinted appearance with a persistent creamy head, emphasizing malt elegance over alcohol intensity.
Appearance.Deep copper to reddish-brown (approximately 18 SRM) with brilliant clarity and attractive garnet highlights. Pours with a large, creamy, and persistent off-white head.
Aroma.Medium-high intensity of rich, bready-malty notes and toasted bread crust. Clean lager character with no hop aroma and a very subtle hint of dark fruit; no alcohol heat is present.
Taste.Initial impression is rich and malt-forward, featuring toasty Maillard characteristics and light caramel notes. The hop bitterness is low, serving only to support the malt sweetness without becoming cloying. Clean fermentation profile with a lingering bready aftertaste; no roasted or burnt flavors are present.
Mouthfeel.Medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Lacks alcohol warmth due to the sessionable strength, remaining soft on the palate with no astringency.
