Le Surfeur Perdu is a vibrant reimagining of the traditional Gose, infused with fresh raspberries to elevate its refreshing character. This sessionable ale pours with a delicate pink hue and high effervescence, leading with an aromatic bouquet of bright red fruit and citrusy coriander. On the palate, a crisp lactic acidity provides a sharp counterpoint to soft, doughy wheat malts. The raspberries lend a juicy tartness that melds seamlessly with a restrained salinity, creating a mouthwatering effect. It finishes bone-dry and remarkably crisp, balanced by a subtle mineral prickle that perfectly cleanses the palate for a highly sessionable experience.
Appearance. Hazy, glowing rose-pink to light ruby color (4-7 SRM). Moderate, dense white to light pink-tinted head with excellent retention and fine lacing; highly effervescent.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh raspberries and bright, clean lactic tartness. Moderate bready wheat malt supports citrusy, lemon-like coriander notes and a subtle, clean sea salt minerality. No hop aroma or esters beyond the fruit.
Taste. Immediate, sharp lactic sourness balanced by vibrant raspberry juice. Low doughy malt flavor leads into a citrusy coriander middle. Light salinity creates a mouthwatering effect without tasting overtly salty. Very low hop bitterness. Finish is bone-dry, acidic, and exceptionally refreshing with a lingering tart berry note.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with very high, effervescent carbonation. The salt provides a rounded, tingly, mouthwatering quality that prevents the beer from feeling thin despite the high acidity. No alcohol warmth.
