This Hazy IPA, a collaboration between Le Ketch and Third Moon, showcases the expressive New Zealand terroir of Sunrise Valley through a 100% Nelson Sauvin hop bill. The sensory profile is dominated by a punchy intensity of passion fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice, underscored by a distinctively dank, cannabis-like edge typical of high-quality Freestyle Hops. A soft, wheaty malt base provides a plush cushion for these vibrant tropical notes. The experience is remarkably juicy, emphasizing the unique white grape and gooseberry nuances of Nelson Sauvin while maintaining a smooth, accessible bitterness that highlights the hop's complex aromatic depth over sharp edges.
Appearance. Straw to light amber with an orange hue; opaque, hazy clarity with a luminous shine. Features a medium, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of passion fruit and bright orange juice. The Nelson Sauvin hops provide a pungent, resinous cannabis note and a hint of crushed white grapes. Low, bready malt presence in the background with clean fermentation and no harsh alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit, specifically passion fruit and citrus oil. The Nelson Sauvin character offers a slightly vinous, white-grape quality. Low to moderate bitterness is masked by a soft, off-dry finish. Malt is neutral and grainy, supporting a lingering, juicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, soft, and pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate and smooth. No astringency or harshness; a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
