Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+); produces a thick, creamy, dark tan head with good retention and persistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of dark chocolate and cocoa powder, followed by strong notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of caramel. The malt character is deeply roasted, reminiscent of espresso, with no perceptible hop aroma or alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is very sweet and chocolate-forward. Rich flavors of milk chocolate and fudge are balanced by a moderate roasted malt bitterness. The bourbon influence contributes layers of vanilla and charred wood without any spirit harshness. The finish is long and sweet, dominated by lingering notes of cacao and vanilla, with a clean fermentation character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a surprisingly creamy, coating texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is absolutely no alcohol warmth, and the beer exhibits very low astringency despite the heavy roast and wood components.
