Landskroner Bräu Brunette is an evocative Munich Dunkel that showcases the depth of Bavarian malt artistry. Pouring a deep chestnut brown with a compact, creamy tan head, it opens with a moderate intensity of toasted bread crust and a subtle hint of chocolate. The 12.3° Plato base provides a sturdy foundation of rich, bready sweetness balanced by a clean, restrained hop bitterness. The roasted malt character remains delicate and elegant, avoiding any harsh or burnt notes. Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of malt richness, characterized by toasted bread crusts, nutty undertones, and a subtle hint of milk chocolate. Clean fermentation profile with no esters. A very low, spicy herbal hop note is present in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is of rich, bready malt. Flavors of toasted crusts and mild caramel dominate without being sugary. Hop bitterness is moderate and well-balanced, providing enough structure to offset the malt richness. The finish is smooth and medium-dry with a lingering toasted malt aftertaste. No burnt or acrid roasted flavors are present.
