This Hazy IPA offers a unique Icelandic twist, blending tropical New England vibrance with the distinct botanical essence of Arctic Thyme. A collaborative effort with Borg Brugghús, the beer features a complex hop profile driven by Styrian Wolf and Grungeist. On the nose, sweet herbal notes of thyme mingle with bright citrus rind. The palate is a lush display of tropical fruits and citrus zest, supported by a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and a gentle, herbal bitterness. The Arctic Thyme adds a cooling, earthy layer that perfectly complements the juice-forward hop character, resulting in a refreshing and aromatically intriguing interpretation of the style.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4-6 SRM). Opaque and heavily hazy with a luminous shine. Features a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring tropical notes of mango and pineapple alongside sharp citrus rind. Distinctive sweet thyme and fresh herbal notes are prominent. Low grainy-sweet malt in the background with moderate fruity esters.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor dominated by citrus zest and tropical fruit. The addition of Arctic Thyme provides a fresh, savory herbal layer that persists throughout. Low bready malt flavor provides a soft canvas. Bitterness is medium-low and smooth, leading to an off-dry, clean finish with lingering herbal and citrus oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth with no harshness or astringency; light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
