Lakes Brew Co’s NZ Pilsner offers a modern Southern Hemisphere twist on the classic German Pils. This straw-colored lager features a foundation of crisp Pilsner malt, providing a clean, doughy, and lightly toasted cracker base. The signature addition of Motueka hops elevates the aromatic profile, replacing traditional herbal notes with vibrant layers of crushed lime zest, lemon, and a hint of tropical fruit. On the palate, a firm but refined bitterness cuts through the subtle honey-like sweetness, leading to a bone-dry, mineral-tinged finish. It remains exceptionally refreshing, balancing traditional European structure with bright New Zealand hop character.

Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (2–4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a creamy, long-lasting white head and excellent lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Bright hop character dominated by Motueka-derived lime, citrus zest, and light tropical fruit. Supported by low grainy-sweet and doughy malt notes with a hint of toasted cracker. Clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial grainy-sweet malt flavor is quickly overtaken by a firm hop bitterness. Hop flavors of lime, lemon oil, and a touch of spice reflect the New Zealand influence. High bitterness that is crisp and clean, leading to a bone-dry finish with a light lingering minerality. Complexity is driven by the interplay of elegant malt and vibrant hops.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, refreshing texture. High carbonation provides a lively effervescence. No alcohol warmth. Clean, sharp finish with no astringency.
