Lakes Brew Co Breaking Origin

This sumptuous Imperial Stout presents an intricate tapestry of dark, decadent flavors inspired by a moody Lake District landscape. Rich layers of bittersweet chocolate and deep-roasted coffee form a robust foundation, further enhanced by the exotic, spicy warmth of tonka and the velvety sweetness of coconut. As the liquid warms, it reveals a complex interplay of dark fruit esters and a comforting, well-integrated alcohol presence. The experience is multi-dimensional, balancing intense roasted malt bitterness against a lush, creamy texture that lingers on the palate, making it a celebratory and indulgent slow-sipper that evolves beautifully as it breathes in the glass.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant oily legs visible on the glass due to the high viscosity and alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich, complex profile of dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted malts. Distinctive notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and almond from the tonka beans mingle with a sweet, toasted coconut character. Moderate dark fruit esters of prune and raisin are present, backed by a smooth, warming alcohol presence. Hop aroma is very low.
Taste. An intense, multi-layered explosion of bittersweet chocolate, heavy-roasted coffee, and toasted grain. The tonka provides a spicy, marzipan-like complexity, while the coconut adds a creamy sweetness that buffers the aggressive roasted bitterness. Mid-palate reveals black cherry and plum esters. The finish is long and bittersweet with a lingering cocoa and roasted grain aftertaste, balanced by a smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a viscous, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the luscious mouthfeel. A significant, gentle warmth is present throughout without being sharp or solventy.
