Mastermind presents as a quintessential Hazy IPA, delivering a vivid sensory experience defined by its juicy profile. The nose is greeted by an aromatic symphony of ripe tropical fruits and distinct tangerine citrus, accented by a unique coconut note and the elegant, vinous character of Sauvignon Blanc grapes. On the palate, the hop intensity is high but smooth, supported by a soft, bready malt backbone that avoids any distracting caramel. Its velvety mouthfeel enhances the perception of fruit sweetness before concluding with a gentle, restrained bitterness. This is a complex, modern ale where biotransformation and late-hopping create a layered, refreshing finish.
Appearance. Straw to light orange (approx. 5 SRM). Opaque, hazy appearance with a soft shine. Topped with a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head featuring high retention and substantial lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit nectar, sweet tangerine, and a notable coconut character. Subtle notes of crushed white grapes provide a vinous edge over a low, clean, bready malt background. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Explosive tropical fruit and citrus flavors mirror the aroma, featuring prominent coconut and tangerine. Perceived bitterness is low to moderate and soft, providing balance without harshness. The malt is lightly grainy and supportive. Finish is off-dry and smooth, emphasizing hop juice over resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a characteristically soft, plush texture. Carbonation is moderate. No astringency or hop burn; a very slight, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
