Ladd & Lass Brewing presents Fractal Sunset, a vibrant Double IPA that showcases the heavy-hitting synergy of Cryo Citra and Cryo Mosaic. This expression leaps from the glass with an intense sensory profile defined by overripe mango, succulent pineapple, and a dense layer of tropical fruit. The neutral malt base stays in the background, allowing the high-potency cryo hops to drive a punchy citrus and resinous character. It balances significant hop bitterness with a clean, dry finish that masks the 8.25% ABV, offering a smooth yet assertive experience that highlights the best of modern American hop breeding.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing and good clarity, though a slight hop haze is present.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent overripe mango, pineapple, and citrus notes. Very low, clean, grainy maltiness in the background. Fermentation is clean with a hint of neutral alcohol warmth and no notable esters.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of tropical fruit and resinous pine. Malt character is low and neutral, providing a soft, unobtrusive foundation. Bitterness is moderately high but remains smooth rather than harsh. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit and mango.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium to medium-high. Contains a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth appropriate for the strength without being solventy.
