Lacada Brewery Aird
Aird is a robust Rye IPA that showcases a sophisticated interplay between spicy grain and vibrant, multi-layered hop character. The inclusion of rye provides a distinct earthy and peppery foundation that sharpens the sensory profile. Citra and Amarillo hops lead the charge with intense grapefruit and orange zest, while Centennial contributes a classic resinous and floral depth. Mandarina Bavaria adds a unique, sweet clementine note to the finish. At 6% ABV, the beer maintains a clean, supportive malt backbone without excessive heat, finishing crisp and dry. The lingering spicy character of the rye provides a refreshing, complex counterpoint to the firm bitterness.
Appearance. Amber to deep copper with orange highlights (10–15 SRM). Large, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Clear to very slight haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring grapefruit, tangerine, and floral notes with a resinous pine undertone. The malt profile is moderately low, showing bready crust and light caramel, overshadowed by a prominent spicy and earthy rye character. Clean fermentation with no notable esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a balance of citrus zest and sharp, spicy rye. Strong hop flavors of orange peel and pine are supported by a medium-low bready malt sweetness. Hop bitterness is firm and high, characteristic of the style, but smoothed by the peppery rye grain. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering resinous and spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a moderate to high carbonation that enhances the crispness. Features a light, characteristic rye-derived graininess and a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
