This deep mahogany Munich Dunkel offers a sophisticated aromatic profile of freshly roasted coffee, caramel, and dark chocolate, stemming from a base of four specialty malts. The addition of Hallertau Tradition hops provides a delicate, herbal counterpoint to the malt richness. On the palate, the experience is smooth and toasted, revealing bready layers and a surprising, faint wisp of smokiness. The finish is clean and medium-dry, leaving a lingering suggestion of espresso. It balances classic German structure with an expressive, roasted depth.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (22–28 SRM) with garnet highlights; clear. Features a dense, persistent light tan head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high malt richness. Dominant notes of toasted bread crusts and dark chocolate are complemented by coffee and toffee. Very low herbal hop aroma from the Hallertau Tradition hops. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial malt-forward impression of toasted nuts and bread crust. Medium malt flavor complexity includes dark chocolate and a hint of sweet caramel, balanced by a subtle, integrated smokiness. Low bitterness (approx. 20-25 IBU) ensures a malty balance. Finish is medium-dry and clean with a lingering roasted coffee aftertaste.
