Maze Runner is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop trio of Strata, Nelson, and El Dorado. Pouring with a characteristic dense opacity, it immediately releases a complex bouquet of passion fruit and sweet strawberry from the Strata, intertwined with the distinctive white wine and crushed gooseberry notes of Nelson. El Dorado adds a layer of bright pineapple and candy-like sweetness. On the palate, the experience is silky and soft, driven by a pillowy body that carries waves of tropical intensity without harshness. The finish is smooth and juicy, leaving a lingering impression of sun-ripened stone fruit.
Appearance. 4 SRM. Opaque, straw-gold with a luminous haze and no visible particulates. Topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of tropical fruit and berry-like notes. Distinctive passion fruit and strawberry aromas from Strata hops lead, followed by the vinous, white grape character of Nelson. El Dorado contributes sweet pineapple and pear. A light, bready, wheaty malt backbone provides a neutral foundation.
Taste. Explosive tropical fruit flavors of melon, pineapple, and citrus. The Strata provides a complex berry depth, while Nelson offers a sophisticated gooseberry and grape-like fruitiness. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is well-integrated and never sharp. The malt remains a supportive, grainy-sweet whisper. Finishes smooth and off-dry with a lingering juicy character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, pillowy texture. Medium carbonation provides a gentle effervescence. No hop astringency or harshness is present, with only a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
