La Superbe MAILAKA
This Double IPA delivers a saturated hop profile through an assertive blend of Strata, Mosaic, and Citra. The sensory experience opens with an explosion of passion fruit, ripe mango, and bright grapefruit zest, supported by underlying notes of dank resin and sweet berries. Despite its 10% strength, the malt remains unobtrusive, providing a lean, cracker-like foundation that allows the hops to dominate. It finishes remarkably dry for its size, leaving a lingering trail of citrus peel and pine. The high alcohol content is integrated as a smooth, gentle warmth, ensuring this powerful ale remains remarkably drinkable while showcasing an intensely aromatic hop character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (SRM 7-9). Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight haze due to high dry-hopping rates.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent notes of passion fruit, blueberry, and tropical melon. Citra provides bright lime and grapefruit zest, while Strata adds a pungent dankness. Background malt is neutral and grainy. Alcohol is detectable but clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus. Complex hop flavors follow, featuring Mosaic-driven berry notes and Citra-derived orange peel. Bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness. Malt is low and soft, providing just enough support to prevent a thin mouthfeel. The finish is dry with a long, resinous, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, devoid of any harsh fusel qualities or astringency.
