This Double IPA presents an intense aromatic landscape driven by a potent quartet of hops. Nelson Sauvin provides sophisticated notes of gooseberry and white grape, while Citra adds layers of bright grapefruit and lime. Simcoe anchors the profile with a foundational piney resin, as Sabro introduces a unique, creamy coconut and tropical fruit undertone. At 8% ABV, the beer delivers a smooth, integrated warmth that complements a soft, bready malt base. The sensory experience is defined by its vibrant hop saturation and a clean, firm bitterness that underscores its modern New England character without sacrificing drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7-9 SRM) with a significant, stable, creamy white head. In line with the New England sub-style, it displays a characteristic hazy opacity while maintaining a persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma. Prominent notes of passion fruit and citrus from Citra meet the herbal, piney qualities of Simcoe. Distinctive white wine and crushed grape esters from Nelson Sauvin are present, alongside a subtle tropical coconut sweetness from Sabro. Malt is neutral and supportive, appearing as a light grainy-sweet scent.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruits followed by a firm, resinous bitterness. Citrus zest and gooseberry flavors dominate the mid-palate. The malt character is low, providing just enough soft breadiness to balance the hop intensity. It finishes dry to medium-dry and clean with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and a touch of hop spice.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth mouthfeel. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its strength without being harsh or solventy.
