La Superbe ERREXIMENTARI is a decadent Imperial Stout inspired by the flavors of Gâteau Basque. This luxurious pastry stout presents an intense bouquet of rich Uganda vanilla and sweet almond paste, harmonized by the deep, dark fruit notes of black cherry. The foundation is built upon complex layers of dark chocolate and roasted malts, evoking a velvety cappuccino character. Despite its significant strength, the alcohol is masterfully integrated into a viscous, honeyed body. The interplay of dark malts and specialty ingredients creates a dessert-like experience that remains smooth and indulgent from the first aroma to the lingering, chocolate-liqueur finish.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident, leaving noticeable legs on the glass upon swirling.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich, multi-layered profile. Dominated by sweet marzipan and almond paste, supported by the floral and creamy scent of Uganda vanilla. Deep notes of black cherry and dark chocolate meld with a moderate roasted malt character reminiscent of fresh cappuccino and honey.
Taste. The initial impression is intensely sweet and luxurious, featuring a chocolate liqueur-like quality. Bold flavors of almond and sweet vanilla dominate the mid-palate, complemented by the tart-sweet depth of black cherry. A solid backbone of dark roasted malts provides espresso and cocoa notes, balancing the sweetness. Bitterness is moderate but softened by the high residual sugar. The finish is long and smooth, echoing notes of chocolate and dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, velvety, and chewy texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the creamy pastry character. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never sharp, contributing to a luxuriously soft mouthfeel.
