NEIPA - New England IPA 3.9 º
This Hazy IPA delivers a punchy tropical profile despite its sessionable 3.9% ABV. The hop bill of Mosaic, Nelson, and Galaxy creates a complex bouquet of passion fruit, crushed gooseberry, and vibrant peach. A base of soft, bready malt supports the massive hop intensity without adding weight. It pours with a characteristically opaque, luminous glow, leading into a palate defined by ripe mango and white grape notes driven by the Nelson hops. The finish is remarkably clean and dry for the style, offering a refreshing after-surf snap while maintaining the signature silky mouthfeel and restrained bitterness of a modern New England-style ale.
Appearance. Color is a luminous pale straw (3 SRM). It exhibits a significant, uniform haze that provides a soft glow. A thick, meringue-like white head persists well, leaving intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with blueberry and tropical fruit notes from the Mosaic, complemented by the distinctive white wine and gooseberry character of Nelson. Galaxy adds a layer of passion fruit and citrus. Malt remains in the background, providing a subtle, clean, grainy-sweet scent without caramel or toast.
Taste. An immediate wave of juicy tropical fruit—specifically mango and passion fruit—dominates the entry. Nelson hops provide a sophisticated vinous grape note in the mid-palate. Bitterness is low, well-integrated and never harsh, allowing the hop flavors to shine. The malt contributes a light bready flavor. It finishes off-dry with a lingering essence of tropical citrus.
Mouthfeel. The body is medium-light, feeling softer and fuller than its low alcohol content suggests. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth, almost silky texture. There is zero alcohol warmth and no hop-derived harshness, making it highly refreshing.
