This anniversary Imperial Stout delivers an opulent sensory experience, driven by a robust malt architecture of Vienna, Munich, and Brown malts that provide a bready, toasted foundation. Choco and Carafa III malts intensify the profile with deep bittersweet cocoa and espresso notes, while the addition of oats and lactose creates a thick, velvety texture. The aroma is dominated by roasted peanuts and rich chocolate, accented by the aromatic sweetness of vanilla. At 10.8% ABV, the beer offers a smooth, integrated warmth, finishing with a lingering, decadent interplay of nutty sweetness and sophisticated roasted bitterness.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It supports a dense, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention and significant viscosity, often displaying legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, and heavy roast. The peanuts contribute a distinct roasted nuttiness that melds with the dark malt character. Subtle background notes of toasted bread and vanilla sweetness are present, with very low dark fruit esters and negligible hop aroma.
Taste. A decadent initial impression of sweet chocolate and creamy lactose. The mid-palate reveals layers of toasted grain and nutty peanuts, supported by a firm roasted bitterness. Hop flavor is low, allowing the Choco and Carafa III malts to drive a coffee-like finish. It is well-balanced between dessert-like sweetness and roasted depth, concluding with a long, warming, and harmonious aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, chewy, and luscious with a velvety texture enhanced by oats and lactose. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated without being sharp.
