This Specialty IPA presents a striking contrast between its obsidian depths and a vivid, modern hop profile. Intensive dry-hopping with Strata, Mosaic, and Citra unleashes a sensory wave of passionfruit, ripe strawberry, and bright citrus zest. While the appearance suggests a heavy stout, the palate remains remarkably agile and dry, supported by the subtle, debittered roast character of specialty malts. Brief notes of light chocolate and toasted bread provide a delicate structural foundation without overshadowing the tropical and resinous hop layers. The finish is crisp and clean, leaving a lingering impression of grapefruit peel and cool pine.

Appearance. Deep ebony to black (30–35 SRM) with moderate clarity. It supports a persistent, creamy, light tan head that leaves dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aromatics lead with pungent notes of tropical passionfruit and crushed berries. Secondary layers of lime zest and grapefruit are supported by a faint, clean toastiness and a whisper of dark cocoa. Esters are very low and fermentation is clean.

Taste. Immediate hop-forward flavors of mango, blueberry, and citrus pith. The bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harsh astringency. The malt profile is restrained, offering gentle chocolate and nutty toast flavors that complement rather than clash with the hops. It finishes very dry with a clean, resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. There is a very faint, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
