This powerful Double IPA is a masterclass in hop saturation, utilizing a massive 22g/L dry hop charge alongside Phantasm for intense thiol expression. The Citra and Citra Cryo deliver a concentrated burst of crushed grapefruit and succulent mango, while the Nelson Sauvin and SubZero Kief Nelson Sauvin provide sophisticated notes of white wine grape, gooseberry, and a hint of passionfruit. Despite its 10% ABV, the beer maintains a surprisingly lean and supportive neutral malt profile. It finishes remarkably clean and dry for its strength, leaving a lingering, resinous, and tropical fruit trail on the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (8-10 SRM) with a hazy, opaque modern appearance. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High-intensity aroma featuring punchy tropical fruit, passionfruit, and citrus. Citra provides dominant grapefruit and lime, while Nelson Sauvin adds distinctive sauvignon blanc grape and gooseberry notes. Background malt is neutral and grainy. Fermentation is clean with smooth, noticeable alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus. Intense hop flavors of mango, grapefruit, and white grape dominate. Bitterness is high but smooth and well-integrated. The malt character is soft, clean, and unobtrusive. The finish is dry with a lingering hoppy bitterness and a clean, warming alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and smooth without being hot or solventy. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
