This Espresso Martini-inspired Stout is a decadent tribute to pure coffee goodness, layering house-brewed espresso, coffee liqueur, and whole beans over a robust dark ale base. The sensory experience is dominated by an intense, freshly roasted coffee profile, weaving through deep notes of dark chocolate and toasted malts. A rich, liqueur-like sweetness provides an elegant counterpoint to the roasted grain bitterness, mirroring the cocktail's sophisticated profile. Silky and full-bodied, the palate balances charred grain character with a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth. Appearance. Opaque, deep black (SRM 40+). Features a thick, creamy, persistent tan head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of freshly roasted coffee beans and pulled espresso. Supporting notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, and a hint of vanilla-like sweetness from the coffee liqueur. Low earthy hop aroma with clean fermentation and very light dark fruit esters.
Taste. Initial impression of intense espresso and bittersweet chocolate. Malt flavors of toasted bread and roasted barley follow, balanced by a moderate coffee liqueur sweetness. Hop bitterness is moderate but complemented by roasted grain acridity for a firm finish. The aftertaste is long and lingering, reminiscent of dark-roast coffee and cocoa.
