This Double IPA is an intensified expression of the brewery’s core lupulin character, delivering a punchy sensory experience. It opens with an aggressive bouquet of grapefruit zest, sticky pine resin, and ripe mango, underpinned by a clean, crackery malt base. At 8% ABV, the palate is powerful yet surprisingly lean, showcasing a firm bitterness that cuts through the subtle, honey-like malt sweetness. The finish is strikingly dry and crisp, leaving a lingering trail of citrus pith and floral notes. It exemplifies the style's goal: massive hop saturation without the heavy, cloying weight of a barleywine, maintaining high drinkability despite its strength.
Appearance.Deep gold to light copper (8-10 SRM) with a slight, attractive haze. Topped by a dense, ivory, long-lasting head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma.High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of tangerine, passion fruit, and a distinct dank, resinous undertone. Very low, clean bready malt profile in the background; fermentation is neutral with a very faint hint of smooth ethanol.
Taste.Bold hop-forward impact with flavors of orange peel, pine needles, and tropical stone fruit. Bitterness is high and assertive but remains smooth. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support with notes of white bread and light toast. Finishes very dry with a long-lived, resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle. Includes a gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances the perceived strength without being solventy or harsh.
